The window is the most important room in the house, if you ask a dog. It has weather and moving parts, plus a live feed of everything the neighborhood is getting wrong.
Some dogs treat a window like television. Some treat it like a job with a badge. The five dogs below have settled that question for themselves, and none of them are asking for a second opinion.

Nobody mentions the pay when you sign up. It is terrible, and the pension is a nap in a sunbeam at 2 p.m. that the whole department fights over.

What gets flagged varies by dog. Delivery vans earn the full alarm. So does a plastic bag rolling down the street, and so does a cat crossing the property line, which also triggers pacing and a follow-up memo sent to the entire block.

Some of these dogs can also fall asleep in any position on earth, which suggests a flexible employment model. The same dog that stares down a delivery van will look away the second you find a chewed slipper, and that look on its face is reading you, not confessing.
Your dog has a window. Your dog has a schedule. The neighborhood is being watched closely by someone who works for kibble and will not be taking the weekend off.
