Puppy learns the art of watching TV from an older dog

Dog Humor, Dog News

Some puppies learn fetch from their mothers. This one learned television from the older dog in the house, and the results are as funny as they sound.

In a video from the Bosco & The Fam account, an adult black dog settles in front of the TV while a small puppy watches him closely. When the big dog leans in at an exciting scene, the puppy leans in too. When he stands for a better look, the puppy follows. Before long both are glued to the screen, and at one point the little one walks right up to the television for a closer view. Commenters noticed what dog owners everywhere recognize instantly: the puppy keeps glancing at the older dog to make sure he is watching correctly.

This is observational learning, and it is one reason puppies raised alongside calm adult dogs often settle into household routines faster. A young dog copies everything, including how the older dog reacts to the doorbell, to strangers, and yes, to whatever is on the screen.

Screen time is not a problem on its own. Many dogs enjoy shows with animals or movement, and it can be decent indoor enrichment on rainy days. Just treat it as a bonus, not a babysitter, and keep up the walks, play, and training. If your puppy already takes behavioral cues from a bigger sister or brother in the house, you have a built in tutor, so choose the examples you want copied. Catch the video at DogTime.
