Wedgewood Pharmacy LLC is recalling certain compounded pet medications still within their expiration dates, after the company found that testing data from its own laboratory was unreliable. The recall was announced October 21, 2026 and covers products shipped to veterinary practices, pharmacies and pet owners nationwide between February 18 and October 6, 2026.
Compounding pharmacies mix custom versions of drugs, often because a dog needs a liquid instead of a tablet or a strength that is not sold off the shelf. Bad potency testing means a bottle could hold too little of the active drug or too much.
What was recalled
- Nearly 4,000 product listings from Wedgewood (Swedesboro, New Jersey): powders, pastes, oral suspensions, injectables, eye ointments and drops, ear solutions, and topical sprays and gels. The figure counts listings, not individual lots.
- Medications for dogs, cats, horses and exotic animals, none for food-producing animals.
- Wedgewood has received 98 complaints, 7 of them serious. Low potency can mean a treatment that does not work. High potency can mean toxicity or overdose.
- The recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the FDA. Searchable product, lot and expiration lists are at wedgewood.com/recall-lookup.
What you should do now
- Search any compounded medication in your house by name or SKU, then match the lot number and expiration date on the container.
- Stop using recalled medication and keep the container. Call Wedgewood’s recall line at 866-562-5931 (Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET, Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET) for a refund or replacement.
- Call your vet before you stop a medication on your own. Seizure and hormone drugs are dangerous to stop abruptly, and your vet can arrange a new supply or prescription.
- Watch for the original symptoms coming back, or for vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, wobbliness, tremors or unusual drowsiness, which can signal too much drug. Call your vet if you see them.
