Vet Plus, Inc., which sells supplements under the Fi brand, is recalling two supplements for dogs because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. The company announced the recall on September 3 and the FDA published the notice on September 8. An ingredient supplied to Fi’s manufacturer may carry the bacteria, and the manufacturer has suspended production while investigating.
The recalled products were sold directly to consumers and through the online retailers Amazon and Chewy.com. Only these two lots are affected:
- Fi Calming Supplement for Dogs, 180 g. Lot 26118, UPC 8 50064 80011 1.
- Fi 8-in-1 Formula Supplement for Dogs, 180 g. Lot 26159, UPC 8 50055 11168 4.
Salmonella can make dogs sick, and people can also be exposed by handling the product or coming into contact with waste from a dog that ate it. Fi is notifying affected customers directly.
What you should do now
- Stop giving your dog either recalled product. Check the lot number and UPC printed on the jar; only lots 26118 and 26159 are affected.
- Seal the container tightly and throw it away in the trash.
- Contact Fi at 1-888-434-3647 (seven days a week, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern) or by email at support@tryfi.com.
- Wash food bowls, scoops, and any surfaces that touched the product, and wash your hands well afterward.
- Watch your dog for vomiting, diarrhea (possibly with blood), fever, lethargy, loss of appetite, and abdominal pain. If your dog ate the recalled product and shows any of these signs, call your veterinarian.
- If you handled the product and develop nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cramping, or fever, contact your doctor.
- Report any adverse events to the FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine at fda.gov/reportanimalae.

Supplements are easy to overlook when a recall is announced because they are not meals. If your dog takes a daily supplement such as probiotics for gut health, check the jar against recall notices the same way you would check a bag of food.
