RECALL: GreenTripe.com Frozen Dog Food and Stuffed Cow Hoof: Salmonella and Listeria Risk

Dog News, Dog Recalls & Safety

GreenTripe.com, Inc. of Gilroy, California is recalling two frozen dog products for possible bacterial contamination. The FDA classified the recall as Class I, its most serious category, on October 5. The company started the recall on August 19 and it remains open in the FDA’s records.

Two products are affected:

  • GreenTripe.com Frozen Dog Food Xkaliber, 1 lb, 2 lb and 5 lb rolls. Production date August 11, 2026. About 260 rolls.
  • GreenTripe.com Frozen Dog Food Stuffed Cow Hoof, 8 oz bags. Production dates July 9 and July 10, 2026. About 48 bags.

The FDA lists possible Salmonella contamination as the reason, and possible Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes for the stuffed cow hoof. The food went to consignees in California, Colorado, New Mexico and Washington.

The recall is not on the FDA’s public announcement page, so it may have reached few owners outside the stores and home-delivery customers that sold it. Frozen food sits in freezers for months, which is why the production dates are what to check.

What you should do now

  • Check the package for production date August 11, 2026 on Xkaliber rolls, or July 9 and July 10, 2026 on the stuffed cow hoof bags.
  • Stop feeding it, and do not donate it. Keep it away from pets and children until you follow the company’s refund or disposal instructions.
  • Contact GreenTripe.com through greentripe.com with questions.
  • Wash your hands, bowls, scoops and any freezer or counter surface the food touched. Salmonella and Listeria can make people sick too.
  • Watch your dog for vomiting, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), fever, lethargy, loss of appetite or abdominal pain, and call your vet if those appear.
  • If you handled the food and get nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cramping or fever, contact your doctor.
  • Report a problem to the FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine at fda.gov/reportanimalae.

Frozen raw food is behind several recalls this year, including the Northwest Naturals frozen chicken recipe recall in late August, also for Salmonella and Listeria.
