This is a hard one to share… 💔
We saw a coyote on our security cameras here at WaterWolf Ranch, and the next morning we went out to check the property
As we walked past the chicken coop, we found feathers everywhere… and our sweet little hen, Betty Boop, was gone
It was clear what had happened, and our hearts are absolutely broken
The hardest part… Kahlia was with me when we found the feathers
I told her that chickens drop feathers when they get scared and that Betty Boop probably ran to the neighbor’s where their rooster could protect her
So in her heart… that’s where Betty Boop is
This is the first tragedy we’ve experienced here on the ranch, and it hit us harder than we expected
Later that morning, we secured the coop with cinder blocks and added no-dig barriers all the way around
We may not know exactly how it happened… but we are doing everything we can to make sure it never happens again
