Emergency veterinary team alleviates suffering in Fla.

The University of Florida’s Veterinary Emergency Treatment Service is in Fort Myers this week treating small animals at no charge in climate-controlled tents and a mobile medical trailer set up at a sports complex. The team brings a sense of hope to people who have lost everything and are struggling to get by, including a couple who took care of two stray dogs in addition to five of their own, says veterinarian Larry Garcia, the team’s medical director.
