Hybrid in-person and virtual annual conference, Oct. 27-30, Pittsburgh

Program

The theme of the conference was “Enriching Feline Care & the Veterinary Experience.” Continuing education sessions and other presentations focused on how being cat friendly can elevate the standard of health care for felines and covered aspects of the environment, interactions, techniques, and behavior. Sessions and presentations also covered diabetes, chronic kidney disease, the critical cat, and cardiology. The conference celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Cat Friendly Practice Program, designed to elevate care for felines by reducing stress for cats, caregivers, and veterinary teams. Attendees can register and gain access to content until June 30, 2023, via the AAFP conference platform and app.

Distinguished Service Award

Dr. Scherk
Dr. Margie Scherk

Dr. Margie Scherk (Guelph ’82), Vancouver, British Columbia. Dr. Scherk was honored for her more than 20 years of contributions, excellence, and dedication as co-editor of the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery. A diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in feline practice, she founded Cats Only Veterinary Clinic in Vancouver. Dr. Scherk is a past president of the AAFP.

Business

The AAFP’s third annual Spring into Feline Medicine e-conference will be held on April 30, May 10, and May 20. The 2023 annual conference will be held Oct. 12-15 in Memphis, Tennessee. The theme of the conference will be “The Ins and Outs of Feline Nutrition and Gastroenterology.” Further details on the e-conference and annual conference will be made available in the near future via the AAFP education platform.
