Flowers, chocolates and special meals can harm pets, but a dog might love an extra-long walk with plenty of opportunities to sniff, cats might enjoy a new cat condo, and both dogs and cats would probably enjoy playtime without distractions and puzzles that engage their minds year-round, Dr. Attas says.
