Avian influenza caused the deaths of a cougar, a bear and two tigers that ate donated local geese at Riverside Discovery Center in Arizona, according to the USDA’s National Veterinary Services Laboratories. The zoo closed temporarily to clean and sanitize walkways and exhibits, and staff established new rules and procedures to prevent a recurrence.
