Hurricane Ian destroyed an untold number of honeybee hives in Florida and stripped blooms off the bees’ autumn food sources, leaving many of the remaining bees to starve. Some beekeepers are feeding sugar water to their bees, and Greater Good Charities is donating pollen substitute to help, but if almond trees on the other side of the continent in California don’t survive the drought, bees and the beekeeping sector might not, either.
