Who Are Angels Among Us?

Angels Among Us Pet Rescue (Angels Rescue) was founded in February 2009 by LuAnn Farwell and Valerie Addington, two major dog lovers and volunteers.
The two women work tirelessly to help dogs during their first year. The non-profit organization continued thriving and growing through its broad reach and dedication.
LuAnn and Valerie became the Board of Directors and Advisory Board. They also met new members with a kind heart toward stray cats and dogs.
In 2021, the organization was awarded Great Non-Profit’s Top-Rated Non-Profit. It’s also Georgia Business Journal’s Best of Georgia 2021.
In the same year, Angels Among Us Pet Rescue also received an award for Guidestar Platinum Transparency.
Angels Among Us Pet Rescue became trusted by many donors and fosters. They have saved over 20,000 dogs, cats, kittens, and puppies in ten years.
How Angels Among Us Started?
Angels Among Us Pet Rescue is a humble group of volunteers who aim to save several stray dogs and cats. Most animals they rescue are vulnerable, unwanted, abused, and abandoned by their owners.
LuAnn Farwell heads the Georgia-based volunteers. She was a volunteer at a local humane society when she thought that the community needed more volunteers for stray pets.
Valerie Addington is a co-founder of Angels Among Us who has been working with LuAnn since 2009.
Aside from rescuing, Angels Among Us has a blog sharing educational and inspiring posts about dogs.
For instance, they share with people how to keep their pets safe during Fourth of July celebrations and how fostering helps bring families closer.
The volunteer organization also holds events to celebrate volunteers. Last May 15, 2022, their 150 volunteers gathered to celebrate volunteers and meet friends.
They also hold events like Rock For Rescue to earn funds for rescue animals.

What Do Angels Among Us Do?
Angels Among Us Pet Rescue is a 501 ©(3) non-profit organization that aims to save dogs and cats from shelters and high-risk situations in the state of Georgia.
They focus on cats and dogs who have over-bred or are ill. Some are neglected, abused, and heavily injured.
The organization has a two-point mission:
- Save as many animals as possible through surrenders and from shelters. Angels Among Us wants to guarantee that every animal goes through the necessary steps for the rescue to experience “freedom” in their foster home and forever home.
- Raise awareness to the public about the pain and suffering of neglected animals in Georgia’s shelters, streets, and homes. The organization wants to underscore the responsibilities of pet ownership while serving as the voice for the voiceless animals.

Donate

As long as you have internet access, you can do your part. Angels Among Us accepts administrative or creative volunteers who are willing to help them with their admin tasks.
Or, you can also volunteer as a creative personnel. They’re accepting volunteer applications from photographers, graphic artists, and creative writers who are willing to help their cause.
All you have to do is submit an application through this form and a Volunteer Coordinator will review it.
Once your application has been reviewed, the Coordinator will help find a specific role for you that matches your interest, availability and skills.

Foster
You can also foster an animal at Angels Among Us. Make sure you’re at least 21 years old, your pets are up to date on their vaccinations, and you are willing to attend vet appointments before applying.
By fostering, you will be helping the organization a lot. They are always looking for fosters and adopters with no other pets who can take in large dogs.
They’re also looking for fosters who can handle specific medical needs, and cat foster parents who can help with their kittens, cats and feline medical cases.
